Remembering Pina Bausch

16. 5. 2019 18:30 - 20:00

Mixed programme: Q and A session + screening of Café Müller

This year’s edition of the festival comes along with a remembrance of the dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch as this coming July marks the tenth anniversary since her passing away. The Dance Film Festival will reminisce her work with a mixed programme, offering a film adaptation of Bausch’ legendary choreography Café Müller, featuring Pina herself. Café Müller is an iconic work that never grows old and still today poignantly speaks to the audience:

Café Müller is a place where life takes place. A place of emptiness, sorrow, fumbling, fear and the longing to be understood. But also a place of hopefulness that love can be found. Pina Bausch knew to read the human soul. Especially its universal features, connecting people of different characters, across historical periods.”

From May 9 to 20, the Centre for Contemporary Art DOX will present a video installation 𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗔 𝗕𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗖𝗛 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: 𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗦, a format featuring images, videos and music created at Tanztheatru Wuppertal, a body lead by Pina Bausch since 1973.
