The festival history

Exclusive dramaturgy and great performance of the Czech dance film production

The Dance Film Festival was founded in 2009 as the first and so far the only institution in the Czech Republic to focus specifically on the presentation and production of dance films. Within its five biennial editions, the festival has screened dozens of films, all of them as a Czech premiere, among them major masterpieces of world cinematography, such as Wim Wenders’ Pina in 3D or Tomer Heymann’s Mr. Gaga. The continuous collaboration with the Film Academy of Performing Arts has resulted in over twenty student films, many of which have made it to foreign film festivals and received prestigious awards.

The Dance Film Festival and all accompanying events are organised by the Dance Film Festival association.
